19th National Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and VII Nationwide Conference of Young Geotechnics7th
The 19th National Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and the 7th Nationwide Conference of Young Geotechnics were held in Gliwice from 4th to 7th July 2023. The event was organised by the Polish Committee on Geotechnics and the Department of Geotechnics and Roads of the Silesian University of Technology.
The Water Centre of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences was represented by: dr hab. inż. Wojciech Sas, prof. SGGW, dr inż. Katarzyna Gabryś, dr inż. Andrzej Głuchowski and mgr inż. Mgr inż. Luiza Rzepczyńska.
The main topic of the conference was ‘The actual topics of geotechnics’. The main conference sessions covered the following issues:
I. Terrestial and laboratory analyses.
II. Theoretical issues and modelling in geotechnics.
III. Soil strengthening.
IV. Geotechnics and environmental issues.
Geotechnical design.
VI. Transport infrastructure and underground construction.
VII. Forum Science – Practice.
The Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. dr hab. Joanna Bzówka, was the chairwoman of the conference. The conference was a great opportunity to listen to interesting lectures, to meet the scientific community of the Silesian University of Technology, and to exchange experiences. The representatives of many companies whose activities are directly related to geotechnics, introduced practical aspects of geotechnics to the participants.
