The 26th New Enlightement Festival organised by Ursynów Cultural Centre ‘Alternatywy’ was held on 20-23th October 2022. Meetings with scientists, lectures, discussions, workshops, concerts and exhibitions were held during the festival. The Warsaw University of Life Sciences was a patron of this event.

       There was a tour in the building of the Water Centre, the Water Park and the Weather Station during the festiwal. Dr hab. inż. Wojciech Sas, prof. SGGW, Director of the Water Centre presented the scientific and educational activities of the Water Centre.

       Tour participants visited two laboratories in the building of the Water Centre. Dr hab. inż. Marek Dohojda presented the Strength of Materials and Building Constructions Laboratory. The participants could see universal testing machines oraz universal hardness testers used for testing the mechanical properties of various building materials. Dr hab. inż. Dr hab. inż. Adam Kiczko presented the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory. The participants could see the hydraulic channel, hydrological model of natural water cycle, model of water and air flow in pipes, test stands for pumps and model of fluid flow in porous media.

Adam Kiczko, visited the Water Park where they could see a simplified model of the river from the source to the mouth, consisting of an earthwork strengthened with gabions, three ponds, viewing glass, channels, bridge, footbridges and hydrotechnic devices. They could also see meteorological devices at the Weather Station and stand for testing green roofs.
