The Weather Station

Characteristics

The weather station is located near the Water Centre building and the Water Park.

The equipment of the Weather Station allows continuous monitoring of weather conditions, gradient measurements of selected parameters of the atmospheric air (temperature, humidity, wind speed), the amount of precipitation, amount of evaporation, insolation and intensity of solar radiation. The soil temperature is also recorded at three different depths. Some measurements are carried out on the 25-metre high measurement mast. There is a building in the station area, where a computer and a dust meter are installed. The computer collects data from the equipment installed at the Weather Station.

The measurements enable scientific research on the determination of the atmospheric equilibrium states and the dynamics of changes in the stratification of meteorological elements occurring in the ground layer of the atmospheric air. Data from the stations are also used for climate assessments. The data collected from the Station are a continuation of the measurements (meteorological cage at an altitude of 2 m above ground level) that have been carried on in Ursynów since 1959. The homogeneity of the series has been confirmed in a few scientific papers. So the Station is referential for the southern part of the Warsaw agglomeration.

The collected data are used during various lectures on various subjects or diploma theses carried out in many Departments of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

The Weather Station is equipped with:
